In summers, March-July offers one of the best time of year to visit Rajgundha. During this time you get to witness views of snow covered peaks of Dhauladhar & a pleasant weather to enjoy your time.
Post monsoon, October-Dec is also good time to visit Rajgundha.
The monsoon bring along frequent landslides and heavy rainfall making travel in the valley dangerous.
During the winter months, villagers in the valley move to lower regions due to heavy snowfall & harsh temperatures.
So It is not advisable to travel in monsoon or winter. However if you’re still considering to plan your trip in Monsoon or Winter. Please check with locals of the region to see if you still have a chance.
3. How to reach
By Air
The nearest Airport is Kangra Airport which lies in the close proximity of Dharamshala. From there its a 4 hr drive to reach Rajgundha. You cn easily find a cab that can directly drop you to Rajgundha.
By Train
The nearest Railway Station is Pathankot which is 170 kms away from Rajgundha. From there you can either cover most of the distance by bus to reach Baijnath/Palampur. & then you can book a direct cab to Rajgundha to cover the remaining distance.
By Road
One of the most common option to reach Rajgundha is by road due to its connectivity.
You cn get a bus directly from major cities like Delhi & Chandigarh to Bir. & then you can take a direct cab to Rajgundha.
Or you can drive on your own by renting a vehicle in Bir as per your suitability.
From Bir
There are two routes that you can take from Bir to reach Rajgundha.
One is via Billing, it is just 1.5 hr drive by road. & the other way is via Barot which is 3 hr drive by road.
If you’re driving with your own vehicle. It is preffered you take Barot route because it’s a tarmac road.
But If driving on off-road is not a problem for you then you can come via Billing which comparatively takes less time.
